Welcome To Kinigi Eco Center

Our Story

Driven by a love for the beautiful country of Rwanda and the wonderful people who live there, and a passion for healing our planet and promoting peace, Terri Mayhan and Farakhan Willis Osemo brought their knowledge, experience, dreams and ideas together to create a very special place. The incredible piece of land in a most breathtakingly beautiful location in Kinigi had already been purchased by Terri, as she had the beginnings of an idea of what this vision was. But it wasn’t until she was joined by Farakhan that, after many a late night of sharing ideas, the duo finally had a complete vision of what this multi-faceted gem really looks like.

Our desire is to give people from around the world a place to gather and celebrate, learn, share, and be inspired to live sustainably and creatively, enjoying abundance, good health, and prosperity. We see Permaculture as the way of the future, and a practical solution for subsistence farmers to thrive rather than barely survive on their small plots of land, while restoring rather than depleting the ecosystem in which they live.

We know that there are so many talented artists and crafters in Rwanda who need more venues where they can sell their work, and talented performers who’s talent should be shared with the world. Also, we wish to share inspiration for up-cycling rather than discarding items, turning trash into treasure. We will showcase and teach building and creating with natural and up-cycled materials, in an environment that is beautiful, fun and family oriented. Our Center will be a treat for the senses, as well as the mind and spirit. Not just something to see, but something to experience. Together.

Our Location

The site for Kinigi Eco Center is just a short walk from the entrance to Volcanoes National Park on Kinigi Rd in Kinigi, Musanze District, Northern Province, Rwanda.

Our Mission

It is our goal to help create a better future for all people and the planet as a whole. By showcasing and sharing the arts, permaculture, eco-friendly building and creative upcycling, we will inspire and teach our visitors how to live in a more sustainable manner, while simultaneously supporting the arts and vulnerable people. Our goal is to always have something new to see, do and experience, in a family setting that is exciting and fun. We want to dazzle our visitors with a feast for all senses, the mind and the soul, and inspire them to create their own bit of paradise when they return home. We believe that together we can change the world.
